If it's your first time

You don't need to know a single constellation.

Guides at Spencer's start from wherever you are. The 4" Stellarvue refractor is there for wide views of the sky, which the observatory calls excellent at any skill level.

If you already know the sky

Bring your list.

The 10" Meade LX200 offers computerized precision that, in the observatory's words, experienced star gazers will enjoy. The 14" Celestron handles deep-sky objects and fine planetary detail.

If you're staying at The Oasis

It's on the same grounds as your room.

The observatory shares the grounds with the Lodge, the Inn and the Casitas of The Oasis at Cat Mountain. Overnight guests get $25 off a tour.

If you're bringing friends

Up to ten of you, one booking.

A tour is $125 and is best for up to five guests; each additional guest is $15, up to ten. Bring a bottle of wine to pass the time.

Where you'll be

At the edge of Saguaro National Park West.

Thirteen acres of desert below Cat Mountain, about 25 minutes from central Tucson over Gates Pass Road.
